How Extended Warranty Companies and Warranty Third Party Administrators are using Web Services to Reduce Claims Cost and Pay Out Claims in Days

Smart extended warranty companies and extended warranty third party administrator are using web services to reduce their claims cost and close out and pay claims in days not weeks. In turn this adds to their bottom line to reduce claims cost and provides the best level of service to the warranty holder making the repair claim.

A web service is a collection of open protocols and standards used for exchanging data between applications or systems. Software applications written in various programming languages and running on various platforms can use web services to exchange data over computer networks like the Internet. It works on the principal of requesting data and a returned response data.

Price and Availability Web Service - While the warranty service provider is on sitemaking a warranty repair, they can enter part numbers needed into their smart phone or tablet’sservice mgt mobile application or website. In a matter of seconds the Price and AvailabilityWeb Service can return part prices and availability. This in turn allows the service provider to order the parts needed at the lowest price and from the nearest location to where repair is taking place.

Order Entry Web Service – After reviewing the prices and availability of the parts needed in the service mgt application or website, with a single click of a button the parts order can be placed to the the parts supplier by means of the Order Entry WebService. The web services passes in all the parts needed along with the customer # and claims/dispatch # that is needed for for the warranty company to account for and pay for the parts for the claim. A order # and order details are sent back in the web service response to confirm the order was placed. The order information is then stored in the service mgt system that can be used to match the parts invoice to a claim /dispatch number.

Order Status Web Service – Allows service provider to do a real time inquiry of parts orders by Order #, or Claims/Dispatch #.

Cancel and Returns Web Service – Allows service providers to do real time cancels and returns by pressing a button within their service mgt application. The above web services are only the beginning and most basic.
